ATE Central

ATE Central is a freely available online portal and collection of materials and services that highlight the work of ATE projects and centers. ATE Central is designed to help educators, students, and the general public to learn about, and use materials from, the entire depth and breadth of the Advanced Technological Education program.

ATE Central helps direct users to a full range of high-impact ATE resources available online, including curricula, learning objects, and podcasts. The portal aggregates information about the materials developed by ATE centers and projects, and organizes them using subject taxonomies, context appropriate keywords, and other digital cataloging techniques.

ATE Impacts documents the breadth and depth of the impacts of the projects and centers funded under the National Science Foundation’s Advanced Technological Education (ATE) program. With an emphasis on two-year colleges, ATE projects and centers focus on the education of technicians for the high-technology fields that drive our nation’s economy.

The University of North Carolina at Greensboro

Evidence-based decision making is an integral part of today’s society. Whether we are talking about the ability to demonstrate educational achievement, work collaboratively with program stakeholders to enact change, or highlight strengths and weakness of educational/social systems, UNC Greensboro’s Department of Educational Research Methodology (ERM) provides the necessary training for future professionals and academics.

Partnering with EvaluATE from UNC Greensboro is co-principal investigator Dr. Ayesha Boyce and her team of talented researchers. UNC Greensboro has a sub-award through EvaluATE for a 5-year study on equity, inclusion, and diversity in the ATE program.

Western Michigan University Partners

Interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Evaluation

The only program of it’s type in the world, the Interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Evaluation (IDPE) program at Western Michigan University hosts doctoral students who work on EvaluATE research projects. IDPE’s mission is to develop evaluation scholars and practitioners who have deep knowledge of evaluation theory, methodology and practice as well as superior critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Co-principal investigator Dr. Michael Harnar is an Assistant Professor in the IDPE program. Dr. Harnar leads EvaluATE’s study on evaluation use.

Industrial and Entrepreneurial Engineering and Engineering Management

The Industrial and Entrepreneurial Engineering and Engineering Management program is located at Western Michigan University. Drs. Larry Mallack and Nolan Ackerman are partnering with EvaluATE to conduct a research on webinar and workshop feedback data using sentiment analysis.

Science and Mathematics Program Improvement

Western Michigan University’s Science and Mathematics Program Improvement center (SAMPI) provides program evaluations and professional consultations for schools and other education entities. SAMPI’s Drs. Cody Williams and Robert Ruhf have partnered with EvaluATE to conduct a research study around collecting student counts and graduation rates.
